What PriceZ Was Facing
PriceZ needed a consumer price comparison platform that could ingest pricing data from hundreds of UK retailers, normalise product identifiers across inconsistent catalogues, and surface results in under two seconds on mobile. Generic comparison tools available off the shelf were built for affiliate aggregation, not genuine price intelligence — they lacked the data pipeline architecture needed to handle the volume and the product-matching accuracy consumers expected. Building on a white-label solution would have constrained the core differentiation from day one.
The Solution
What We Built
We designed and built a bespoke data ingestion pipeline capable of processing pricing feeds from over 300 UK retailers, with a custom product-matching engine that resolved catalogue discrepancies using a combination of structured attributes and fuzzy matching. The consumer-facing web and mobile applications were purpose-built for price-sensitive London shoppers, with location-aware results and personalised alert logic. Every component was designed to be owned and extended by the PriceZ team post-launch.
