The Challenge
What MaxSense Was Facing
MaxSense was deploying sensor networks across London commercial and industrial sites and managing telemetry data through a generic SCADA platform that could not handle the volume of concurrent connections or the variety of sensor protocols their clients used. Alert rules had to be configured identically for all sensors regardless of context — there was no way to define thresholds per installation type. The platform vendor's roadmap did not align with MaxSense's product direction, creating a dependency that threatened their ability to win new contracts.
The Solution
What We Built
We built a bespoke IoT monitoring platform with a protocol-agnostic ingestion layer capable of handling MQTT, Modbus, HTTP, and proprietary sensor protocols within the same pipeline. Alert rule configuration was modelled per sensor type, per installation, and per client — with configurable escalation paths and suppression windows that generic tools could not support. A real-time dashboard gave site managers visibility across all sensors with drill-down to individual device telemetry and historical trend analysis.
