What Matrix Was Facing
Matrix had operated on a heavily customised SAP implementation for over a decade. The customisations — built by a succession of contractors — had made the system so brittle that no upgrade had been possible for four years. Licence costs were substantial, the user interface required weeks of training for new staff, and the system could not support the operational model the business had evolved into. Replacing SAP with another off-the-shelf ERP would have repeated the same problem with different vendor lock-in.
The Solution
What We Built
We designed and built a bespoke ERP system modelled precisely on how Matrix actually operated — production scheduling, purchase order management, inventory tracking, and financial consolidation — with a modern interface that required no formal training. The data migration from SAP involved extracting and transforming 11 years of transactional history without disrupting live operations. We run an ongoing support retainer covering quarterly releases and system evolution as the business grows.
