The Challenge
What DATwise Was Facing
DATwise was serving London financial services clients who needed analytics across proprietary data structures that Power BI and Tableau could not model without extensive pre-processing. Every client report required a data engineer to manually reshape datasets before any visualisation could begin. The generic BI tools imposed their own data models on the business logic, resulting in dashboards that were technically accurate but operationally misleading. A platform built for their specific analytical patterns was the only viable path.
The Solution
What We Built
We built a bespoke BI platform with a semantic layer that modelled financial services concepts natively — P&L attribution, risk-weighted asset calculations, and client-level profitability — without requiring analysts to pre-process data. Custom visualisation components handled time-series comparisons and waterfall charts that off-the-shelf libraries could not render correctly at scale. The platform connected directly to client data warehouses via secure, audited API connections with no data replication.
